GIRL CODE
Yes, the Girl (Woman) Code DOES exist. It is unwritten but all women know about it. Life has taught us that these codes are sacred and should be followed if we want to be a good friend, have good friends, keep each other safe, and support each other.
Here are the Girl Code rules (in no order) that I have learned and try to live by:
- Be honest! It doesn’t matter if she’s asking you how her outfit looks, if you think her love interest is attractive/nice/etc., if you agree with a decision that she has made, or anything else. Be honest.
- Communicate openly and honestly (have to say honest twice!). This will get you through everything.
- Don’t let a love interest get between you. No one is worth losing a good friend over. Love interests come and go but good friends are always there. This includes not making your friend choose between the two of you.
- Do NOT share the secrets of your friends. Enough said.
- Your friend’s exes, close friends, and relatives are off limits unless she sets you up or gives you permission.
- Do NOT help, defend, discuss with others, or contact your friend’s ex.
- Whether or not you know a woman being hit on or annoyed by a creep, step up and rescue her. You would want someone to do that for you.
- Provide your friend with unconditional support through life – good times and bad.
- Don’t let competition get out of hand. Healthy competition is good but jealousy is not.
- Be your friend’s biggest cheerleader. We all need that extra “hooray” every now and then.
Please add your comment with other codes that you think should be added to this list. Thanks!!
