ASSUMING    –

I’ve heard (and said) it many times:

When you ASSUME

You make an ASS out of U and ME

It is true. People assume that the extremely tall man plays basketball and that the voluptuous blonde is stupid. We also assume that others think like we do and share the same beliefs, values, and opinions.

How boring would the Earth be if this were true? If we were all the same there would be no new thoughts or ideas, everyone would be equally capable at all things, we would all be the same.

Thankfully, we are not all the same. Every one of us is unique. Even identical twins are different from one another.

A lot of the conflicts that happen in our lives are due to assumptions. Instead of asking questions, we assume that we know the answers. Sometimes we are too afraid to dig deeper for fear of what we may find out. Sometimes we don’t have the time or care enough to make the effort. I would rather take the time to talk to someone than be the ASS.
