You CAN Find Humor in Everything –

My father was funny. He could do dad humor and regular jokes. He once said that if you look hard enough, you can find humor in anything. I took that to heart even at a young age. Dad even proved it when he knew that he didn’t have long to live – he continued to make jokes.

I definitely can find humor in almost everything. I do it all the time. It may be what keeps me sane. Horrible things are always happening but there is humor everywhere. When I haven’t been able to find humor, I have been able to find something that makes me smile whether that be the sound of a baby laughing, seeing the face of someone I love, or a cute cat or dog. Maybe this is just part of my positive outlook. I know, I know – those of you who have known me a very long time would not call me positive. Now that I am “of a certain age” where I have more days behind me than ahead, I have come into my own and feel free to be the true me. I am not trying to conform to what my partner, family, friends, or community want me to be; I am being who I truly am. I wish that I had done this decades ago.

Anyway, if you try hard enough, you can find humor in almost everything. Even in my toughest times, thinking about my favorite saying has made me smile:

“I know God won’t give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish he didn’t trust me so much.”
